We begin tonight’s edition of A Window to the Fatherland with Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh reading one of his poems from the book of his collected works.

In tonight’s program, as with every Thursday, our special guest Dr. Mohsen Sazegara will be updating us about the latest news of the Syrian chemical attack on Douma and the reaction of both US and Russia to it, as well as the general situation in the Middle East, plus the currency crisis in Iran.
Dr. Mohsen Sazegara:
Mr. Trump is a unique phenomenon in so far as being the only US President who is fully exploiting the latest social mediatechnology by using Twitter to work as though he has used hundreds media outlets to put forward his points of view and policy.
President Trump has surely responded boldly to the Russian’s disgraceful act of vetoing the UN Security Council’s resolution condemning Assad regime’s criminal chemical attack on Douma.
At the same time, Washington is embroiled in another major current affair which is the theft of the personal information of more than 78 million Facebook users, which could have easily been abused toinfluence the result of the US election, as per admission by Mark Zuckerberg the co-founder of this major social media.
In fact in the event of any US military action against the Assad regime it will also be a testing ground for the Russian anti-missile technology to face the Western missiles.
We now know that Putin’s special military envoy has hurriedly traveled to Iran to meet with the secretary of Iran’s national security council Shamkhani, and during their meeting Shamkhani hasasked his Russian visitor that if it has been true that the Israeli warplanes had infiltrated Iran’s airspace without being detected on radars, as previously reported by Western intelligence agencies.
Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:
Iran’s Velayati has now travelled to Syria for direct talks with Bashar Assad and the Iranian defence minister has traveled to Russia, indicating the full dependency of the Islamic republic on Moscow as a satellite regime.
Meanwhile Rouhani is following his own agenda and the country seems to have many governments in power while at the same time none is in control of the explosive situation that threatens our nation’s interests and independence these days.
Dr. Mohsen Sazegara:
The Iranian regime has not shown any reaction to the death of several Iranian nationals who were killed when the Israeli jets bombed the Syrian airbase in retaliation for the chemical attack on Douma.
The regime has just sufficed to saying that they will react in the future and this indicates that if tomorrow the Israelis attack the Hezbollah bases Tehran will respond in a similar way by just blustering and then wait for a time to pass to save its own neck.
What Saeed Leylaz has said about Iran’s economic woes should not be considered as the view of an educated economist. The amount of cash in the hands of public in Iran is well beyond one and a half trillion tomans, which is one of the main reasons for the current currency crisis. Mr Leylaz is well protected by the regime’s intelligence agencies that allow him to make commentaries that aim to divide the Iranian people’s opinion about the roots of their economic problems, which is the existence of the current regime.
The regime is clearly scared to see the opposition forces are getting closer to each other and attempts to frighten the people by deceitfully saying that if it is overthrown Iran will become a second Syria.
Under this regime Iran has been paying a heavy price for the regime’s adversarial position towards the US. But what have we gained from this insanity? Only to make Kahamenei’s dream of becoming the “leader of the Islamic world” come true?
The Iranian people do not know what to dowith the monies that they have in their pockets and in their bank accounts, as they are now worthless. The regime has now put a limit of 1000 Euros for anyone who wants to convert their Iranian toman into a foreign currency. The point is that the Iranian people just do not trust this regime about anything that it says or does.
The Rouhani government is so weak to be able to have or implement any coherent economic plans. He cannot even tell the Revolutionary Guard to return the millions of dollars that they have taken to Iraq to influence the Iraqi elections next month.
Dr. Alireza Nourizadeh:
There is now talk of a military government to take over in Iran to supposedly sort out the country’s numerous problems.
Dr. Mohsen Sazegara:
First of all the military men in Iran have failed in their test of running the country when they were fully behind Ahmadinejad’s administrations for eight years. The current economic crisis in Iran began under Ahmadinejad when several of his key ministers were Revolutionary Guard commanders turned politicians. Ahmadinejad came to power on the back of the Revolutionary Guard’s coup.
I think the Guards are not interested to replace Rouhani, their main objective is to replace Khamenei as the SupremeLeader!
